Well done everyone, another great display of Harrier team spirit on show this month, especially during the support of the Coast Road Marathon and Run Newtownabbey C25K programme. Many Harriers stepped up and went the extra mile for their fellow club (and non-club) members in June, you all deserve a round of applause for your…
On Saturday morning, it was one of the toughest endurance events most of us have ever faced. For the graduates of the C25k program it was not what they had trained for, not what they had expected. Children cried, dogs howled. It was brutal. But then Alex finished his speech (one of them at least)…
Sanity has returned this week. Mark Smith is back on a podium, the McCaffertys are back at 10@10 and several Harriers have a hangover today. Everything is right with the world again. Looked as if everyone was saving themselves for a big weekend effort as there were no Harriers involved in any midweek races. (Or…
Obviously, the big news of the Harrier week is that the McCaffertys missed a 10@10. The appropriate authorities have been informed. But, as we await news of their fate, onto the running…. Midweek racing this week focused on Lisburn as many Harriers took on either the 10k or Half Marathon distance: 10k: Martin O’Neill 42:41,…
A strange week for your favourite results report as Mark Smith did not have any podium finishes. One podium finish that did happen though was Club Captain Suzanne Brennan achieving second place in the Newforge 10k on Wednesday night in 51:50. Rumours that Suzanne is attempting to legally change her name to Lady Mark Brennan…
I need to start this week by catching up with a few results that came in too late for last Sunday’s report. Let’s not forget that one of our juniors was at the latest Lagan Valley Firmus Fab 5 meeting back on May 31st: U13 Boys 75m Adam McCann 16:19 (winner) McCann the man! U13…
A quieter mid-week this week but still plenty of running in the sun over the weekend: However, firstly just to mention Nuala Muldoon, 39:19 and Mairead O’Hare, 59:19 who both represented the club at at last week’s Marconi Run in Ballycastle. Friday evening started as Mark Smith continued his successful season with yet another podium…
Plenty of running this week, both mid-week and over the weekend. Wednesday evening was the Bann 10k. Our only entrant was Mark Smith who gained yet another podium finish coming home third in 35:41. Well done (again) Mark! However, this effort was eclipsed by newbie Mark McIlroy who won the dad’s race at his son’s…
It seems that whilst your reporter sits silently and alone in the empty mansion that is Chez Cavillator, may of you Harriers are out there running with your better halves. In this week of weddings and couples, just remember, if you have someone who gives you the same feeling you get when you see your…
Well, after all the excitement of the Belfast marathon and relays, this week was a bit quieter. No doubt you, like me, were just spending the week getting physically and emotionally ready for the Eurovision song contest. Never mind marathons, if you want to see humankind at its finest, going above and beyond the limits…
