The Mathieson Cup

During the winter months cross country races are held off-road. The courses can be flat, hilly, undulating on grass or muddy terrain. Even the same course can become a very different test as the weather and conditions under foot change.

 

We are honoured to have Belfast Playing Fields on our doorstep. A venue that is steeped in cross country history, being the initial meeting venue for The Antrim International Cross Country, attracting winners such as Steve Ovett.

Mallusk Harriers host The Mathieson Shield and Cup during January.

The event forms part of the Athletics NI Cross Country League, where clubs battle for points split across teams.
