Run Race Report – 16th October 2022

So many decisions to make when you’re training and planning for a marathon. Nutrition, race refuelling, shoe choice, race pace, clothing, etc. However, for most Harriers this week it seems to be the choice of pub for the post-race pint. Fair play.
Taking on the parkruns this week were:
Valley parkrun:
Ramunas Stanevicius 21:14, Eloise McAuley 23:55, Nuala Muldoon 24:18, Coach Sinead O’Hare 24:40PB, Anton Piatek 28:02, Marie McBrien 28:08, Cathy Ryan 29:00, Johnny Carey 29:36, Emma Toner 35:44PB
Waterworks parkrun:
Suzanne Brennan 26:15, ADav 26:16, Joanne Milne 29:35PB
Ormeau parkrun:
Stephen Murphy 22:16PB
Antrim parkrun:
Joseph Eager 24:15, Maeve Kennedy 24:56, Elaine Kennedy 31:06
Colin Glen parkrun:
Martin McCready 35:09
Jordanstown junior parkrun:
Coach Sinead O’Hare 8:35PB and second finisher, Joseph Eager 9:58, Ben Halliday 10:52, Andrea Bradley 16:20
And well done Sinead on a double PB weekend!

Wardown junior parkrun:
Rory Mason 8:52 and third finisher
Yesterday saw the latest Friendly 5000 event. This one was back with Tafelta AC, our friends in Magherafelt. Not the best conditions but still plenty of great performances in the rain:
Aidy Hughes 25:38, Stevo Armour 19:39, Robbie Gould 19:31 and B Race winner, Kevin Donnelly 18:18, Adam McCann 18:10, David Graham 17:56, Tom Fleming 16:13 and A Race winner.
Earlier today the Harriers were back in action at the Centra Run Together events in Ormeau Park:
5k:
Emily Murphy 23:47 and first female finisher, Aidy Hughes 27:42, Carrie Murphy 33:54, Terri Ganley 34:23, Bernard McKeaveney 34:27, Clare Gallagher 43:47, Calla Crossan 48:17
10k:
Bronagh Adjey 1:02:34PB, Hannah Hope 1:02:34
And particular congratulations to all the C25k graduates who were representing the club for the first time. Great to see it.
I’ve treated you all to enough musical classics over the weeks and months as well as passing on some essential nuggets of general knowledge. It’s now time you put all that effort to good use and get yourselves out to the club quiz this Friday. You may not know all the answers but seeing how bad the rest of the Harriers are will make you feel better at least!
To finish, I was going to pick a track from that “classic” Bon Jovi album, Slippery When Wet, for those who swam around the track in Magherafelt yesterday. However, today really needed recognised as it was the annual outing of Alan Erwin’s “special” socks. Alan, we salute you.
