Club Race Report – 12th March 2023

Snow may have slowed (some of) us down during the week but we definitely made up for it come the weekend. Racing all over the show.
First, a late result off the Vidiprinter as we catch up with the final event in the East Coast Junior XC Series. This event took place at Sandy Bay last Sunday 5th:
Mini Girls 800m
Alice McAuley 5:30 and third place
Minor Girls 1600m
Eloise McAuley 6:22 and first place
Junior Girls 2000m
Coach Sinead O’Hare 9:34
Junior Boys 2000m

In the overall series standings, Alice McAuley came second in the Mini Girls section; Eloise McAuley came third in the Minor Girls section; Coach Sinead O’Hare came tenth in the Junior Girls section and Leo McAuley came fourth in the Junior Boys section.

Well done to all our Juniors on representing the club so well in this series.

Yesterday saw the first race of this year’s NIMRA Championship with the latest Glenariffe Mountain Race (i.e. the Spud Run). 1,200ft of elevation over 6 miles with a bag of spuds as your bling:
Micky McAuley 54:16. Anton Piatek 1:07:29

On the same day Alan Erwin (yes, he of quiz fame) and Bernard McKeaveney (yes, he of cake fame) ran the Walled City 10 mile Road Race. Alan finished in 1:06:58 and Bernard in 1:25:28.

Other Harriers headed for Portadown to take on the half marathon distance there:

To finish off the weekend of racing, Mark Smith completed the Jimmy’s 10k in 36:27.
So this week’s tune is for the members in the club who celebrated International Ladies Day on Tuesday, and no doubt continue to do so. And, yes, I was told to use this song.

Until next week, behave.
