Club Race Report – 5th June 2022

Well, I hope you’ve all been celebrating the big platinum anniversary this week. Yup, 70 years since the first pop music charts were published.
(Al Martino’s “Here in my Heart” was the first ever number one if you’re wondering. Not exactly a banger to be fair).
Also 70 years since Emil Zatopek set a marathon world record of 2:23:03 at the Helsinki Olympic Games for the runners amongst you.

It worked.

Eloise McAuley also had a podium finish on Saturday, finishing second in the 500m at the N.I & Ulster Championship.
Aidy Hughes, our vest in the West, was at it again on Saturday, this time at the Washing Bay Green events. Aidy finished the 5k in 24:46.
This morning Ken McAuley headed south to Cork and completed their marathon in 3:46:18.
Our chief header was also back at it at the end of a busy week for the club. Lee O’Boyle completed the first Werunwild Norn Iron 100 event. This is an ultra race from Ballycastle across the Sperrins to Gortin. Not only did Lee complete it in 19hrs and 40 min, he only went and won it too. Congratulations Sir!
So this week’s tune is for all the parkrunners, at Antrim and elsewhere, and for those that helped organise and feed them. Harrier life!
