Club Race Report – 19th June 2022

The sun sort of came out this week. We sort of almost had a sort of Summer. But the nights will be on the turn soon folks. Anyhow, the glimpse of sun brought the Harriers out in numbers for Tuesday training, C25k, hill reps, parkruns, 10ks, hilly long runs, ultras and everything in between. Loverly.
Taking on the parkruns this week were:
Valley parkrun:
David Graham 19:06 and 2nd finisher (same time and same placing as last week!), Stevo Armour 21:07, Elijah Cushley 21:29, Eloise McAuley 23:59 (and first female finisher), David Esler 24:09PB, Neil McCready 24:39, Paul Skillen 26:31, Brendan McGeown 28:38, Clare Teer 28:51, Sharon Dunn 28:59, Leo McAuley 29:41, Joanne Milne 30:30, Cathy Ryan 31:03, Roseann McGeown 34:03, Martin McCready 35:03, John Teer 38:59
And congrats to Mr Esler on completing his 100th parkrun, with a wee PB in the process.
Waterworks parkrun:
Maeve Kennedy 24:28, Kevin Donnelly 25:54, Rory Brooks 29:15, Jasper Brooks 29:41, Roisin Brooks 31:28
Falls parkrun:

On Thursday night we had our A team in action as Alan Ladd and Aidy Hughes took on the Lismore 5k in Craigavon. And, yes, Aidy had to get special permission to travel cross border from Tyrone to Armagh for the event. Alan finished 7th in 18:02 and Aidy finished in 25:25.
Friday night saw the latest event that counts towards our Club Championship (kerching again).
Comber was the venue; 10k the distance:
Ciaran Wright 44:28, Craig Goodall 46:35, Dermot Boyd 59:44PB, Janet Grew 1:00:08
Then on Saturday, Bernard McKeaveney decided that it was time that he became a header too. Bernard completed the 50k event within the Atlas Safety Solutions 24 hour event at Victoria Park in a time of 6:00:52. I note in the results he finished one place behind Liam Gallagher. Between him and Nish Kumar, Bernard did some amount of celeb spotting at this one. Well done Sir.
So this week’s tune is for David Esler and everyone else who ran up the hill twice at the Valley parkrun. And for those who survived Karen’s Sunday morning route. And for Stranger Things fans. And for Kate Bush fans. So that’s basically everyone in the world covered somehow.

Until next week, behave.

Our chief header was also back at it at the end of a busy week for the club. Lee O’Boyle completed the first Werunwild Norn Iron 100 event. This is an ultra race from Ballycastle across the Sperrins to Gortin. Not only did Lee complete it in 19hrs and 40 min, he only went and won it too. Congratulations Sir!
So this week’s tune is for all the parkrunners, at Antrim and elsewhere, and for those that helped organise and feed them. Harrier life!
