Club Race Report – 7th August 2022
It was a busy week again with many highlights but, as usual, none were better or tougher than our own club race. Great to see it fully back post Covid and still going from strength to strength. But more of that later.
Taking on the parkruns this week were:

David Graham 19:45 and 2nd finisher, Ciaran Wright 22:24, Joe Mathers 23:28, ADav 23:53, Stephen Semple 24:30, Nuala Muldoon 25:01, Clare Teer 29:08, Joanne Milne 29:09, Marie McBrien 29:41, Neill McGlinchey 30:51, Dermot Boyd 31:44, Mairead O’Hare 38:48, John Teer 39:19, Clare Gallagher 42:41PB, Martin McCready 59:38
Waterworks parkrun:

Bangor parkrun:

Limavady parkrun:
Alan Kerr 26:24
Sixmilewater parkrun:
Tom Fleming 17:58 and first finisher, Craig Goodall 26:40
Obviously both well recovered from their Friday evening exertions. Fair play gents.
Limepark Playing Fields parkrun:
Elijah Cushley 21:35
And congrats to Limepark parkrun in Ballymoney on completing their first parkrun. Here’s to many more.
No tourists again this week. And due to previous legal restrictions, I can’t even make jokes about Ballymoney!
Jordanstown junior parkrun:
Coach Sinead O’Hare 8:49, Matthew Hawkins 12:05, Riley Kerr 12:18, Joseph Eager 12:19
Waterworks junior parkrun:
Leo McAuley 8:39, Hollie Brennan 17:23
Friday night was a busy night for local running. Full results for our own club race are posted elsewhere but we had some excellent results from the Harriers that took on the hill themselves:
Tom Fleming 28:31 (age category winner) and just missing out on a podium spot in 4th place, Mark Smith 29:49 (age category winner) , David Graham 30:14, Robbie Gould 33:58, Ben Davidson 35:03 (and age category winner), Craig Goodall 38:22, Lauren Penman 54:48
And, once again, a huge thank you to all the Harriers who volunteered in the build up and on the night or provided food and treats. And a special shout out to Ian and the team who gamely manned the BBQs for what must have felt like several days.
On the same night, some of our elite squad were in Downpatrick for the 5k:
Emily Murphy, 22:22, Coach Sinead O’Hare 23:02
Earlier today, we also had representation at the Feile 10k. David Graham finished in 37:20 and Brendan McElroy in 46:06
As we all know, Harriers love a wee hill, none more than Lee O’Boyle and Micky McAuley. On Saturday, Lee finished 9th in the BARFNI 77s in a time of 4:39:33. Micky finished 14th in 4:57:23. This is a 18ish mile race covering 7 peaks of the Mournes with 8,100ish ft of elevation
So this week’s tune is for everyone who made it up that hill on Friday, or across the Mournes on Saturday. Yes, we used this tune recently but it’s become a club anthem so we’re using it again.
Plus Vecna bears a strong resemblance to a certain Harrier on his long run this morning. Red wine, Indian meals and running don’t always mix, kids. Just say no.

Until next week, behave.
